The reason Pulse Kitchen exists, our purpose, is to change the world by changing the way we eat.

The way we do that, our mission, is by empowering people to cook delicious, healthy meals in minutes, improve their quality of life, and facilitate the transition toward food systems that truly nourish people and heal the planet.

Purpose and mission

Social cause

We are committed to doing everything in our power to support the cause of children, families and youth being education about food, cooking and the importance of soil health for their own wellbeing and for the future of the planet.

Our vision is that of a world where the connection between humanity and nature has been restored.

A world where everyone has access to real food; where real food is a human right.

A world where all food comes from living soils and where our needs and those of the rest of life have been brought back into balance via farming practices that do not rely on monocultures, synthetic fertilisers and toxic chemicals.

A world where food is never made in a way that exchanges short-term profits at the expense of peoples' health and the ecosystems.

A world full of actively engaged, empowered citizens who know how to cook their own food.

Together we can change the world by changing the way we eat.

  • We act in accordance with our purpose in every decision we make.

  • We give people the inspiration, knowledge and skills they need to buy good ingredients, cook their own meals, and eat together as much as possible.

  • We believe that food choices should never be a cause for judgement or guilt. Food should be a unifying force; never a cause for division or conflict.

  • The root of our problems as a species stem from the severing of our connection with the spirit of nature. We live close together but have never felt more alone. We see the shared meal as the catalyst for positive transformation on the individual, societal and planetary levels.

  • We’re bombarded with healthy eating ideals that seem out of reach for many people. Healthy eating is at its core really simple. Cooking healthy meals is something everyone can learn.

Our values

In 2015, we had a serendipitous meeting of minds.

Both of us are food professionals with a passionate love of good ingredients and the joy that good food brings. Both deeply saddened by a food system that categorically puts profit before people and the planet.

United around a shared purpose, to change the world by changing the way we eat, we founded The Bear Kitchen – and office meal business that helped forward companies like AirBnB make impactful eating an integral part of the workplace experience.

In this connection we got really good at creating exciting plant-centric menus and at cooking pulses — a central feature on every menu.

Then pandemic started and office meals wasn’t really a thing. Whilst cooking free meals for frontline health care workers we were simmering over how we could help people at home cook healthier, tastier, planet friendly food. Thus was born the Pulse Kitchen.

Our story

Our philosophy

We believe that food is joy.

So with a little inspiration from our furry friend in nature, we came up with an alternative to restrictive diet fads and ‘isms’.

Our philosophy is simple: Eat Like A Bear.

The bear has no concept of seasonal or local, yet she eats nothing else. She eats mostly plants, and she’s never heard of a factory farm and highly processed foods.

In practical terms this is how you can think of the Eat Like A Bear healthy eating formula:

PULSES + WHOLE GRAINS + FRUIT and VEG + SEEDS and NUTS

A diet consisting mainly of these four food groups is recognised as being the healthiest and most longevity promoting way you can eat.

We know that pulses take a long time to prepare so we’ve done the hard work for you. To learn more about our products, click the button.
