Living our values

Our values mean everything to us. We believe we can change the world by changing the way we eat. But it’s not enough for us to tell you what our values are, we must live and breathe and ACT upon what we believe. On this page you will find our commitments to ethical business, environmental regeneration and social activation.

Sustainable business

Pulses have the lowest carbon footprint of any protein source, and by replacing the need for synthetic nitrogen (which leaches nitrous oxide, a greenhouse gas 300x more potent than CO2), you can be sure that choosing pulses is a big step in the right direction.

Nevertheless, we plan to provide a full cycle carbon footprint report that takes into account packaging, transport, cooling - in fact all areas of our business.

We are committed to sustainability for people, planet and profit and so aim to start our B-Corp application in 2023.

Purpose activation

We live in a world where sadly not everyone has equal access to proper food made with real ingredients. Under-privileged groups are bearing the brunt of the industrialised food system as they consume a disproportionally large amount of ultra-processed foods and factory farmed meat. The inputs for this system in the form of cheap soy, corn and wheat are all heavily subsidised, which is why they are so cheap.

We can only hope to address the issue of food choices and their relation to climate change once the injustice that’s built into the current system have been addressed.

Everyone must have access to proper food made with real ingredients. This is the frontline of the battle to transform humanity’s relationship with food.

The following are the actions we want to take:

  • Workshops and digital content that are practical and useful for people to help make everyday plant-centric cooking simple, healthy and satisfying.

  • Teaching our ‘Cooking with Principles’ approach directly to patient groups via Diabetes UK, Guy's and St. Thomas NHS Trust, and the British Heart Foundation.

  • Facilitating ‘Cooking With Principles’ education for children and young people via schools and charities.

  • Doing whatever we can to put the issue of subsidies on the public agenda to influence policies regulating this matter. Subsidies should go towards regenerative farming practices and supporting families who need help to access proper food.

Anyone can cook. Learn the fundamental principles and set your culinary spirit free.
